The Umbral Age
This is a collection of in-game texts from the 1998 MMO Umbral Age Online based on the series of books called The Umbral Age written by Mindy Greenwood.
Mindy claims that the inspiration for the book and subsequent MMO came from a series of dream trips and channeled messages she undertook while under the influence of the drug Krylon, a substance from the rare Kryl plant that tends to grow in the Parisian catacombs. She wrote her experience down where where traveled to anaother world and talked to people and read books in their great library, including the Black Book of Ombrilis a book detailing the history of Yr, the main setting of the Umbral Age MMO and books.
I played Umbral Age Online as a teenager until it shut down in 2004 and mostly due to nostalgia I wanted to compile many of the interesting lore books from the game. I'm part of a private server that revives the game Umbral Age Extended so I have the ability to sift through the lorebooks which were placed in the game and the in-game flavor texts.
Mindy Greenwood did self-publish the channeled Black Book of Ombrilis but it's really rare, but I'd be curious to read that and see how it influenced the game or how it differs.
